Goals and Glory exists to help deserving youth athletes who have suffered trauma achieve their goals and find their glory, including by awarding them grants. We want to de-stigmatize and normalize mental health struggles, and help-seeking, amongst youth athletes by sharing stories on our online magazine platform. As a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Foundation, 100% of our proceeds go directly to the foundation.
Our vision is a world where youth athletes do not hide in pain with their mental and emotional struggles. Where a team is a supportive community and stigma does not deter people from getting help they need. Where the impact of trauma on youth is more understood and prevented.
Trauma is a field really coming in to light right now. We are learning the ways it affects all people, not just soldiers, or tragedy survivors, but everyday people and definitely athletes. We want to defeat the stigmas related to peoples suffering, and inspire them to find solutions. For our purposes, trauma means physical and emotional trauma, including trauma from racial and gender-based injustice.
We believe that offering funding to athletes who have suffered setbacks can help even the playing field in their goals to find glory. By sharing their written story they are inspiring others, being recognized for their resilience, and utilizing writing therapeutically. The scholarships are meant to be used toward school, athletics, treatment and recovery, coaching classes, or anything to better themselves and their communities.
